Chestnut Wynd
Our house in the heart of North Edinburgh for young people aged 15-21.
We #KeepThe Promise by creating nurturing spaces and supportive relationships - where we build the scaffolding needed for early adulthood
Growth and Development
Chestnut Wynd is our specially designed house for young people, rooted in the local community and built to provide holistic care and support as they transition to early adult life.
With en-suite bedrooms, a welcoming lounge, group room, wellbeing room, kitchen and gardens, it offers a safe and nurturing environment where young people truly belong. Dedicated spaces allow them to meet family and siblings, connect with professionals and access additional support from our in-house counsellor.
Our specialist team works 24/7 alongside young people to build safe social networks, strengthen family relationships and develop essential life skills—such as finding a tenancy, managing money and accessing education and training.
We work closely alongside young people and with family and professionals to achieve the best outcomes by:
Providing a range of 1:1 and group supports and learning opportunities.
Access to community activities and supports
Providing trips, holidays and short-breaks
Working with family of young people
Contributing to assessment work
Providing reports for Children’s Hearings, Child or Adult Protection meetings and other key planning forum
Ensuring that young people are supported to be informed, included and involved in the decision-making processes that affect them
Our Team
Our house team are skilled and trained in the unique care needs for young people at a critical stage in their socioemotional development. All are trained in trauma-informed and evidence-led approaches to respond to the unique and specific needs of young people exiting care or impacted by trauma, educational disruption and family breakdown.
They work closely with key professionals to promote and develop strengths, while ensuring our care-plans are alert to the vulnerabilities and risks posed to young people.
They also work closely with our Community and Transition team to provide additional help for young people at anytime during their stay and community-based support after moving on
Our Transition Flats
Our range of transition flats provide a safe and supported next step for young people - including those at Chestnut Wynd.
Our Community and Transition team provide support to our flats where young people are helped to develop independent living skills, budgeting, routines and prepare to move to a permanent tenancy.
