Our residential service at Cauvin House provides high quality residential care to young mothers and their babies.

A Nurturing Environment

Our small house in the Willowbrae area of Edinburgh is one of the few resources in Scotland that can provide full wraparound residential care for mums and babies.

With spacious bedrooms, a homely living room, a hub room, a large kitchen and a garden, Cauvin House offers a welcoming home and the ideal environment to

  • Maintain and support early attachment and connections

  • Develop parenting skills.

  • Help plan for a safe and secure future for mums and babies.

We will work closely alongside mum and baby and with family and professionals to achieve the best outcomes by:

  • Providing a range of 1:1 and group parenting supports and learning opportunities.

  • Access to community activities and supports.

  • Including and supporting dads/partners.

  • Contributing to parenting assessment work.

  • Providing reports for Children’s Hearings, Case Conferences and other key planning meetings.

  • Ensuring that parents and babies are supported to be informed, included and involved in the decision-making processes that affect them.

Transition To A Safe Future

Our house staff work to make the transition to life at home well prepared and planned.

They also work closely with our Community and Transition Team to provide additional help for mums, babies and families anytime during their stay and community-based support after moving on.

This support can include:

  • Welfare, benefit & tenancy support

  • Whole family support, including father’s work.

  • Promoting healthy relationships

  • Independent living skills

  • Employability, learning &education skills.

  • Building social networks
