Service Updates – September 2018

Room4U Update

ROOM4U approved their first parent and child foster carer in July 2018.  This is the next step in the journey for ROOM4U and we are excited at the prospect of having our first parent and child foster placement.

Our Teenage Foster Carers now have placements and they have settled in and are doing very well.  One of our looked after young people recently went to Italy for 3 days with their rugby team.  This was an exciting opportunity and a great experience for the young person; their first time aboard and on an aeroplane.

We are pleased to announce that we have just appointed our first male foster panel member. We look forward to welcoming him to our next panel, which takes place later this year.

Congratulations!

Congratulations go to Carolyn Thomson, who was recently appointed to the role of Transition and Fostering Manager. Carolyn has worked for the Trust for over 20 years, in a variety of roles from Residential Worker, Service Manager at both Portland Street and Cauvin House, Aftercare Manager and, more recently, Senior Manager. Carolyn says “I look forward to the challenge of helping to develop this new service. I am fortunate in having a fabulous team working with me, all of whom are dedicated and very committed to making ROOM4U the best service it can be.”

 Portland Street/Cauvin House

Thanks to a generous donation from Linda Westwater-Scott on her recent retirement from Portland Street we were able to buy some garden furniture, which was erected by one of our young people.

Both staff and young people have enjoyed having the furniture and all are now hoping that we get an Indian summer!

Goodbye Marian!

Marian Lang, Manager at our Portland Street unit, recently left us to move on to pastures new. Marian will be missed by her colleagues throughout the Trust, as well as the young people. As a send-off, Marian decided that she would like to go for a meal with the young people, so a night at Nando’s was arranged and much enjoyed by all who attended. We would like to thank Marian for her dedicated service and commitment to the Trust and to the young people. We wish her the best of luck for her future endeavours.

On Marian’s departure from the Trust, a new staffing structure was put in place. Cathy Graham, Manager at Cauvin House will now oversee both units. Residential staff members Lianne Thomson and Leslie Ann Dible have now taken on Senior Practitioner roles. We would like to wish Cathy, Lianne and Leslie well in their new roles.
